1. Priority in Leading Prayers (Imamat)

Even if others are older or more qualified, the hafiz takes precedence in leading the prayer. An authentic hadith narrated by Abu Mas’ud al-Ansari states that the Messenger of Allah (SAWW) said:
“The one who is most versed in Allah’s Book should act as Imam for the people, but if they are equally versed in reciting it, then the one who has the most knowledge regarding Sunnah; if they are equal regarding the Sunnah, then the earliest one to emigrate; emigrate at the same time, then the earliest one to embrace Islam. They will say, “O Lord, how did we earn this.” It will be said to them, “Because you taught your child the Quran.”

“Recite the Qur’an, for on the Day of Resurrection it will come as an intercessor for those who recite it. Recite the two bright ones, al-Baqara and Surah Al ‘Imran, for on the Day of Resurrection they will come as two clouds or two shades, or two flocks of birds in ranks, pleading for those who recite them. Recite Surah al-Baqara, for to take recourse to it is a blessing, and to give it up is a cause of grief, and the magicians cannot confront it.” (Muslim, 804).
